Mississauga, ON — October 19, 2026
WI Sports Mississauga stormed into the MCPL Division 3 final with a commanding 10-wicket victory over Predators CC B at Mattamy Sports Park on Saturday, October 17. After bowling the opposition out for 107 in 19.5 overs, WI Sports reached 108 without loss in 15.1 overs, finishing with 29 balls to spare.
10 wickets. Zero lost. 29 balls to spare. No favours. Just cricket.
Faisal Rao led the attack with four wickets for 17 runs and was named Player of the Match. Hayat Ansari then struck an unbeaten 64, while Nikhil Nair finished 36 not out as the openers completed the entire chase together.
Faisal Rao leads a complete bowling performance
Having won the toss and elected to bowl, WI Sports made an immediate impact. Faisal struck in the opening over and Shrey Arora followed in the second, leaving Predators at six for two. The pressure continued as the innings slipped to 23 for three, 42 for four and 45 for five.
Faisal’s four for 17 came from 3.5 overs and included 14 dot balls. He returned to take the final two wickets from consecutive deliveries, bringing the innings to a close at 107.
Navaneeth Suresh supplied two wickets for 19 runs from four overs. Shrey conceded only 17 from his four overs while taking one wicket, and captain Sandeep Prabha Sudha returned one for 15 from three. Ishan Khanna added one for 28 from four overs, while Dimitri Ramjattan bowled one over for eight.
The fielders backed the attack throughout. Shrey, Rishab Sharma, Sibin Yohannan Kutty, Nikhil and Sandeep each completed a catch. Faisal and Shrey also combined for a run-out, accounting for the tenth dismissal alongside the nine wickets taken by the bowlers.
Hayat and Nikhil finish the job without losing a wicket
Chasing 108 for a place in the final, WI Sports needed no contribution beyond its opening pair. Hayat led the scoring with 64 not out from 55 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes.
Nikhil remained unbeaten on 36 from 36 deliveries, including two fours. Together, the openers put on an unbroken 108-run partnership, with eight extras completing the total.
The winning runs arrived in the 16th over. With every wicket still intact and almost five overs unused, the margin reflected a performance in which the bowlers set the platform and the openers carried the team through to the final.
A semifinal contested under protest
The result came against the backdrop of WI Sports’ formal eligibility protest concerning Division 1 players appearing for Predators’ Division 3 side. In its October 16 statement, the club set out its concerns about roster crossover, the impact on league standings and the enforcement of MCPL’s playing conditions.
That statement reproduced an October 8 email from MCPL Management announcing a decision to disqualify Predators B from the playoffs. Despite that written correspondence, Predators CC B were permitted to contest the semifinal.
WI Sports remains deeply disappointed with MCPL’s handling of the matter and believes serious questions about consistent enforcement of the playing conditions remain unanswered. The club’s earlier statement also recorded that the matter had been escalated to Cricket Ontario and Cricket Canada for governance review.
Playing under protest does not mean accepting the league’s decision. The victory does not change WI Sports’ position on the eligibility dispute or its request that the league uphold its written ruling.

No shortcuts. Just results.
For the players who stayed focused through the uncertainty, the semifinal offered a chance to let their cricket speak. The bowling attack delivered ten dismissals. The openers finished the chase. Not a single WI Sports wicket was lost.
WI Sports came to compete and earned its place in the final on the field. To every player who prepared, turned up and contributed: this victory belongs to you.
