WI Sports Brampton opened its Peel Cricket League campaign with a hard-earned 10-run victory over Knight Watchmen at Dixie 407-B. Brampton posted 136 for nine and then restricted the opposition to 126 for eight from 20 overs.
The innings was in difficulty at 30 for five before Rishab Sharma and Manjeet Saini changed the direction of the match. Their 80-run partnership carried WI Sports Brampton to 110 and created a defendable total.
Rishab anchored the recovery with 47 from 41 balls, while Manjeet attacked with 39 from 34. Manjeet struck four sixes and one four, providing the acceleration Brampton needed after the early wickets.
Akhil Kumar produced the most economical spell of the defence, taking two wickets for 15 runs from four overs. Khushbir Singh and Shubham Kumar also claimed two wickets each.
Ishan Khanna and Manjeet Saini added one wicket apiece as all five Brampton bowlers contributed. The attack conceded no sixes across the entire 20-over innings.
The fielding effort was equally important. Shubham Kumar completed three catches, while Ishan Khanna, Khushbir Singh and Rishab Sharma also held chances.
After recovering from 30 for five, WI Sports Brampton showed patience with the bat and collective discipline with the ball to secure the 10-run victory.
