Akhil Kumar has earned the Best Bowler award in the 2026 Peel Cricket League after a standout season for WI Sports Brampton. The leading wicket-taker claimed 16 wickets in eight games while maintaining an economy rate under six runs per over.
His return combined two qualities every bowling attack needs: wickets and control. Sixteen wickets across eight appearances represents an average of two wickets per game, while his economical bowling helped Brampton limit the opposition’s scoring.
As a powerplay strike bowler, Akhil gave WI Sports Brampton an important threat with the new ball. Early wickets can change the shape of an innings, and his season figures reflect the impact he brought to the attack.
His four wickets for 18 runs from four overs against GTA Capital Warriors were a highlight. That spell included 14 dot balls and helped reduce the opposition to 46 for five, setting up a six-wicket victory for Brampton.
Akhil also delivered an economical two wickets for 15 runs from four overs in Brampton’s 10-run win over Knight Watchmen. In a defence of 136, that control was a valuable part of the team’s successful bowling effort.
Congratulations, Akhil Kumar, on the Peel Cricket League 2026 Best Bowler award. Your 16 wickets in eight games and economy under six made this a season worth celebrating.
